This proposal is the result of a multi-year planning process that began in 2023 and included community input, expert consultation, and a detailed study of the district’s future needs.
How We Got Here
Next Steps Toward a New Middle School
Design Begins After Approval
If the referendum passes on May 20th, the District will start design work and invite community input to shape the layout and features of the new school.
Coordinated and Compliant
Pennsylvania requires separate contracts for General, Mechanical, Plumbing, and Electrical work. ICS will manage all four contractors, avoiding delays and reducing risk.
Community Informed Priorities
The new school will reflect what families, teachers, and students have asked for: modern safety features, ADA accessibility, flexible learning spaces, and “small school” grade-level communities.
Responsible Budget Breakdown
Of the $285 million total, 87.4% is for construction and demolition. The remaining 12.6% covers essential indirect costs like architectural services, permitting, equipment, and environmental compliance. ICS will oversee around $30 million in services and report monthly to the School Board.
Construction Oversight with ICS
To ensure efficiency and accountability, the District is using a program management model. ICS, a construction management firm with years of experience in school projects, will manage every phase.
What’s Next
Construction is expected to begin in early 2027, with students starting in the new building as early as the 2029/2030 academic year. The District remains committed to keeping the community informed and engaged throughout every step of the process.
